A couple of weeks visiting family and friends in Rio nearly got me arrested by the Military Police - photographing trains is against all the rules but some smooth-talking and mention of mad Ingles convinced him no serious state secrets had been compromised. Incidentally the Santa Teresa Tramway was unbelievable but sadly it was an accident waiting to happen. Let's hope the refurbishment makes it much safer.

PCC 1050 Class

Single-end streetcars built 1946-48 for Philadelphia Transportation Company. Acquired by Muni from successor Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, 1992. Restored 1993-94 and renovated again starting in 2014. Except for Nos. 1055 and 1060, which are painted in Philadelphia liveries, all cars in this class are painted in tribute to other U.S. cities that operated PCC streetcars.

PCC 1070 Class

Single-end streetcars built 1946-48 for Twin City Rapid Transit Company, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota. Sold to Public Service Coordinated Transportation, Newark, NJ, 1953. Acquired by Muni from successor New Jersey Transit, 2004. Modified for San Francisco service and restored in three phases, 2004-11. Except for No. 1070, painted in the livery it first wore in Newark, and 1071, painted in its as-delivered Minneapolis-St. Paul livery, all cars in this class are painted in tribute to other North American cities that operated PCC streetcars.

Antigua turned up a few treasures, a Hunslet diesel, a hand crane and a winch. Antigua Sugar Factory used the Hunslet diesel No 15. This is works no. 3442, built in 1946, and now in the very cramped forecourt of the Antigua Museum. The crane and winch were down on the waterfront and the winch had 'Lumley Shadwell London' in raised lettering.
